Introduction to Alphabetic Phonics (AP)

3 Day Informative Module: This module includes a dyslexia simulation, student panel discussion, and lectures on multisensory teaching of reading concepts, the science of reading, and the reading brain.  Participants also learn about current reading research. 

10 Day Alphabetic Phonics: This module includes the 3 day Module. In addition, participants will learn to teach the Alphabetic Phonics Curriculum. They will observe lessons, plan lessons, practice teaching methods, and receive continuous mentoring. Teachers will be prepared to integrate what they have learned into their current practices and curriculum.

Meaningful Road to Writing Part I

This program is designed to help students - grades 2 through 12 become comfortable with writing while providing the tools and techniques to write effectively. Grammar and punctuation are taught within the context of student writing, where students view themselves as authors meaningfully choosing words, sentence structures, and appropriate punctuation to communicate their ideas. Students will create their own writing resource, and recognize the power of their words. It is amazing to see students’ reading and writing skills improve along with their attitude about writing. Teachers leave training with a reliable, structured system to teach writing and a methodology that helps them connect all the components of writing together in a meaningful way for students. 

Meaningful Road to Writing Part II

In Writing Part II, students learn the five steps in the writing process including: prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing.  Students are guided through this process while learning to write narrative and descriptive pieces.  They continue to review grammar and learn new writing tools, and they begin to learn effective writing techniques.  They refer to their writing resource as needed and add more information as it is learned. Teachers leave training with a reliable, structured system to teach writing and a methodology that helps them connect all the components of writing together in a meaningful way for students.
